The importance of Being Flexible (and Portable, and Integrated)
I was having lunch with a friend / business associate…a veryverybusyman. We all know these people, and you may qualify. Here I’m talking about a CEO of a successful national business, volunteering on boards, and with a solid family life. He even fits in fun and fitness. As lunch finished and we were booking an appointment to coach him on technology and shortcuts… I suggested some dates and he said “send me an email, I don’t have my calendar here.” He had a huge iPhone 6 in his hand, but his daytimer was nowhere to be seen! I guess that clinched the importance of the coaching session, and gave us one more topic for the list. 🙂 It reminded me of an audiobook I read way back when. It was by The Franklin Covey corporation and had some great tips on organizing calendars and tasks. (This link is their infographics page. Some nice stuff.) They wrote that calendars needed to be (I think I’m quoting) portable, flexible, and integrated. I won’t really do Stephen Covey any justice, but briefly:
My trusty iPhone 5, with the Mophie battery case, serves me just fine for Calendars, Tasks, emails, etc. (more on that in the future). In fact I’m using Siri and OneNote to dictate much of this blog post. :-0 And I’ve long appreciated having an integrated, flexible, and portable calendar. Don’t you know I’m a busy man? 🙂 Talk to you soon, Gerry —————————- Gerry Brimacombe P.S. Click here to get tips and specials in your inbox about once a month. |
